How we transformed the Softorg online shop into a fully-fledged B2B sales platform.
About client
Softorg is a leading distributor of professional sewing equipment in Ukraine, having been active in the market since 1999.
The company works with manufacturing firms, educational institutions, businesses and partners across the country, combining equipment sales, training, after-sales service and participation in tenders.
Context and objective
Softorg already had a functioning online shop, which provided the company with a basic online presence.
However, as the business developed, the B2B sector grew and internal processes became more complex, the need arose to rethink the website’s role.
The company wanted the website to:
- cater to real-world B2B sales scenarios;
- assist managers and partners in their day-to-day work;
- combine equipment sales with training and informational content;
- integrate with the internal accounting system (1C).
This was a natural stage in the evolution of the company’s digital presence — from an online shop to a comprehensive business platform.
Our mission
Our task was to develop not just a new online shop, but a fully-fledged B2B platform that:
-combines e-commerce, a knowledge base, training courses and information on tenders;
-enables managers and partners to manage orders and commercial proposals without the need for third-party tools;
- supports different roles, access levels and terms of cooperation;
- integrates with 1C and becomes part of Softorg’s internal business infrastructure.
We approached the project as the development of a digital sales system, rather than just another redesign.
Architecture and UX
We have redesigned the website’s structure to reflect real-world B2B scenarios:
– separate workflows for customers, managers and partners;
– a clear distinction between commercial, educational and informational content;
– user-friendly workflows for managing products, orders and quotations.
The website has become a tool for both external users and the in-house team.
Key functional solutions
Product comparison
It enables customers to compare professional equipment based on key specifications and make informed decisions.
Production Configurator
An interactive tool that helps you choose the right equipment based on the type of production and what the customer is sewing.
Checkout via the shopping basket
A user can generate a quotation or an invoice directly from the shopping basket, without involving a manager at the initial stage.
Four-level personal account
A flexible system of roles and access rights:
– different levels of managers and partners;
– individual terms of cooperation;
– preparation of commercial proposals;
– access to order and sales history.
Integration with 1C
We have implemented integration with 1C:
– synchronisation of products, prices and stock levels;
– automatic catalogue updates;
– a single source of data for the website and internal accounting.
This made the website an integral part of the company’s operating system.
Conclusion
This case study is an example of a well-thought-out business evolution in the digital age, where a website ceases to be a standalone tool and becomes a systemic solution that supports the company’s growth.
